A FINE of £220 has been handed to a woman who didn’t pay for a £3.50 train ticket.
Megan Mayers, 25, failed to hand over a ticket to inspectors at Brighton train station in May this year.
Magistrates in Oxford considered the case earlier this month and found Mayes, who did not attend the hearing, guilty of the offence.
Mayes, of Groves Close, Colchester, was ordered to pay a fine of £220, costs of £135, and a victim surcharge of £88.
She was also ordered to pay £3.50 in compensation to Govia Thameslink Railway.
