Reporter Michael Robinson took a trip to an Essex takeaway after it was named best in the country at a national curry awards show.

Walking through the door at Hadleigh's Pink Chilliz, the smells of spices and herbs hit you immediately.

After speaking to staff I was recommended a chicken Roshni chilli and a chicken Bhuna.

I am no stranger to spice and for anyone after a bit of a kick, the Roshni chilli is a must.

Packed full of a flavour the dish is more than just heat.  The dishes - Chicken roshni and bhunaThe dishes - Chicken roshni and bhuna (Image: Michael Robinson)

My taste buds tingled as I tucked in before the satisfying spice followed.

If you’re not so accustomed to spice, the Bhuna is delightful.

The thick smooth sauce, with a slight tang, tasted fantastic and the chicken was cooked to perfection.  Finished - The aftermathFinished - The aftermath (Image: Michael Robinson)

Both dishes, served with rice, cost less than £15 each. Certainly affordable considering modern pricing.

I will be back, and you should give it a go too.
