YOU can’t help but be impressed with Will Young.
Admittedly I would have rather been watching The Kooks on the V Stage or The Twang in the JJB Arena when the Pop Idol winner was playing in the Virgin Union Stage.
But I was handed the task of reviewing the Brit award winner and I was keen to see what all the fuss is about.
The first thing I noticed is how much his fans love him.
The tent was jam packed and the crowd was at fever pitch before he’d set foot on the stage.
He worked the crowd with a series of friendly waves and egged on his fans’ enthusiasm by saying none of the other festival audiences this summer have compared to the V crowd by a distance.
He tried out new songs – Disconnected and Grace – which went down well.
He also threw in a track called Help Me by Jody Mitchell.
But classics like Your Game and Leave Right Now, which ended the set, got the crowd waving along.
Three people keen to get the best view of the heart-throb dashed past security guards for a fleeting glance from the disabled platform before they were ushered away.
I wouldn’t go that far in the future but I’d recommend you see him in action.
