PIONEERING new technology has been bought by Essex Police.
The force is the first in England and Wales to purchase CrimeSceneNet UK software, which pulls together and displays all the information connected with a crime scene.
This allows both the police and other criminal justice agencies to plot forensic and other evidence accurately to analyse it quickly and efficiently.
Any type of information – CCTV images, videos, 999 recordings, fingerprints and documents – can be attached, as well as panoramic, three-dimensional representations of crime scenes.
Head of imaging for Essex Police, Norman Eastbrook, said not only would investigators benefit, but the software could also be used for security briefings, at Stansted Airport, for crowd control at football grounds and at road crash scenes.
