SMASHED windows and unopened syringes greeted council workers when they arrived to evict a woman on a Colchester estate.
Representatives from Colchester Borough Homes, which was set up by Colchester Council to manage its 6,000 houses and flats, were supported by Essex County bailiffs and officers from Essex Police.
They had sent the woman a letter giving her the date and time of her eviction, and advising her to collect her belongings and leave voluntarily.
She was being evicted because of antisocial behaviour and noise nuisance.
When the group arrived at the flat, in Alyssum Walk, on the Greenstead estate, at 10.30am yesterday, they discovered that the tenant had taken all of her belongings and already moved out.
