RESIDENTS have been warned to be vigilant, amid reports of rogue traders operating in north Essex.
Doorstep callers have been offering to carry out work on gardens, driveways, guttering and roofing.
Essex County Council’s Trading Standards has advised it is very rare for a legitimate trader to cold call homes offering maintenance and repair services.
Homeowners have been urged not to feel pressured into signing up for work on the spot.
Tracey Chapman, County Hall’s cabinet member for environment and waste, said: “Be very wary of doorstep traders."
