IT was a regimented Christmas dinner for one school as the Army arrived to cook for it.

The 161 children at St Michael’s School in Camulodunum Way, Colchester, tucked into turkey, mashed potatoes, peas and carrots, and finished off their meal with chocolate pudding and chocolate sauce.

Headteacher Gail Thomas said: “We have the Army come in to cook Christmas dinner for us every year but this time one of the dads actually volunteered.

“Everyone very much enjoyed their dinners especially the adults, including our caretaker, cleaner and some of the governors. The food was delicious.”
