A HAUL of items have been recovered by police in Clacton.
Almost £3,000 worth of goods were recovered, including car stereos, a grinder and a laptop computer, all of which were believed to have been taken from cars in the Valley Road area of Clacton.
Police are asking anyone who thinks any of the items may belong to them to get in touch so the property can be returned.
Some of the items, which were discovered at the weekend, have been identified and collected. Officers are hopeful all the goods will be reunited with their owners.
Sgt Mike Suley, of Clacton police, said all too often police were unable to identify the owners of recovered items.
He said it served as a reminder to mark valuable items and check radio serial numbers.
“It is not often that you recover a large haul of property, and when you do it is always a blessing.
“We are hoping to get all this property back to their owners, but it is not always the case.
“The problem we have is identifying property.”
He said if owners were unable to identify their items by giving security codes, or detailed descriptions, it was not always possible to prove the items belonged to them.
He said security numbers of items like car radios and electronic goods should always be noted.
UV pens are available at Clacton police station to mark items.
l A 22-year-old man and a 17-year-old youth, both from Clacton, are due to appear at Colchester Magistrates Court on February 12 charged with theft from motor vehicles.
