A PIGEON infestation has got the owners of a club in a flap.
The flying pests have taken up residence at the Tavern in Holland-on-Sea.
Their droppings are making a mess of the walls and alleyway at the Frinton Road venue.
To make matters worse, club operations director Neil Sharpe is spitting feathers after he contacted Tendring Council for help.
“We are getting very frustrated,” he said.
“We reported this hoping to get some constructive advice – which company to contact, or something on those lines.
“All they can do is advise us they could serve a legal notice if we don’t deal with the situation.
“It appears to be a case of cover our backsides at all costs.”
Mr Sharpe said the gap was so small that it was impossible for the staff at the club to deal with the infestation.
“We have taken legal advice and have been told the council has got a moral obligation to help us. We are not after money – we just want advice.”
Nigel Brown, Tendring Council communications manager, said council officers had been in discussion with the owners of the Tavern and given what advice they could.
“The council is not in a position where it can promote individual companies to carry out such work,” he added.
Mr Brown said the council had not served a legal notice on the owners of the Tavern, and that the matter was still under consideration.
