CLACTON’S little stars of tomorrow stepped out on to the big stage at the weekend.

Sixty youngsters from the Bebop Stage Performers were in the spotlight at Her Majesty’s Theatre, London, on Sunday.

It was the school’s 12th appearance in the West End in seven years and the sixth time they have danced at Her Majesty’s.

This time they performed a piece from the box office hit Hairspray, a fast upbeat tap to a modern piece of music, and one of the pupils, 13-year-old Lauren Hartley, who recently auditioned for the Britain’s Got Talent TV show, sang a solo piece called May It Be.

The Clacton school, which started 11 years ago, now has more than 90 pupils at weekly classes.

Proud principal Clair Talbot said: “When we first started performing in London, we would have to audition. Now they ask us to appear in their shows.

“The children work very hard all year round preparing for their own shows as well as the London ones.”
