JUNGLE fever came to north Essex when celebrity Joe Swash visited a nightclub.
The winner of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here greeted clubbers at Escape Nightclub in Copford.
It was the 26-year-old’s first public appearance since leaving the jungle earlier this month.
He arrived at the London Road nightclub from a pantomime in Chatham, Kent.
He posed for photographs with clubbers and answered questions on his jungle experience before heading for the dance floor.
General manager Damien Stone said: “He was here until 3.30am. He had a really good time.
“He was very personable and just took time out for everyone.
“There were a lot of female fans, and his appearance definitely pulled people in.”
Joe is the second I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here contestant to come to Colchester this week.
Jungle rival Nicola Mclean appeared at Debenhams in Culver Square on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Joe's north Essex aunt has spoken of her pride in her nephew.
Kate Palmer, who lives in Jaywick, said: “He was always destined for great things.”
She said she was “as proud as a peach” to hear of her nephew’s win on the show.
Mrs Palmer has not yet spoken to her nephew, as he went straight back to work, rehearsing for a pantomime.
But she said: “I am absolutely over the moon. I am ecstatic for him.”
Mrs Palmer also gave thanks to Kevin and Julie Ridgeon, who run The Three Jays pub in Marlowe Road, Jaywick.
They showed the programme on the pub’s television and gave Joe an enormous amount of support, she said.
“They had it on the big screen all the time. They were brilliant,” she said.
