A PRIMARY school’s allotment – designed to teach children about caring for their environment – has been trashed by vandals.

Martin Nicholls, headteacher of All Saints, Great Oakley, today said he was outraged after the yobs left the Beaumont Road garden in ruins.

He said: “The children have been growing vegetables for the school kitchen.

“Earlier this month they planted 300 to 400 cabbages and cauliflowers which we planned to harvest in the spring, but every single one has been torn out.”

PC Katie Harden, of Harwich police, said the vandalism was “disgusting”.

The damage happened some time between December 7 and 15. Anyone with information can call Harwich police on 0300 333 4444.
