A FUNDRAISER has made a splash for charity on his recovery from illness.

Malcolm Tedder, of Bournemouth Road, Holland-on-Sea, was struck down with ME in January and went from swimming a mile a day to being unable to get out of bed.

The 49-year-old has fought back by raising £600 for two charities.

The former Clacton Swimming Club member swam a sponsored 64 lengths.

Mr Tedder will share the cash between the ME Association, which has advised and supported him, and the Prostate Cancer Charity, after his dad John Tedder was diagnosed with prostate cancer for the second time.

“I feel really good that I’ve been able to give something back,” he said.

“Clacton Leisure Centre was superb, helping me with training and letting me use the pool.

“I must say a big thanks to Danny and Joe at Care UK, my mum, dad and partner, and everyone who has sponsored me.”

Mr Tedder, who had to give up his job as head chef at Little Holland Hall nursing home in Holland-on-Sea when he was diagnosed with ME, said he is being taken back as the second chef.
