A CAROL by Colchester composer Alan Bullard will be making a star appearance at a world-renowned service.
The Christmas Eve Nine Lessons and Carols service, held at King’s College, Cambridge, is possibly the world’s most famous carol concert, broadcast annually on BBC Radio to listeners worldwide.
Last year the organisers of the concert chose one of Mr Bullard’s pieces for the event, and liked it so much that they decided to place it in the programme again this year.
Mr Bullard said: “I wrote it about three years ago, and it is down to my publisher that it got put forward for the concert.
“It’s called Glory to the Christ Child and, as well as being performed two years running at the carol concert, King’s did a tour of South America last year and sang it there.”
Mr Bullard has written between 15 and 20 original carols and next year will be editing two collections of carols, one of which will be his own.
He added: “I’ve always enjoyed writing carols.
“Christmas is such a special time – you have to capture that mood, but at the same time create something new.”
