AN unusual statue stolen from a back garden has been discovered dumped in an alleyway.
The Gazette website told last week how James Reymond, of Langley Close, Dovercourt, was desperate to get back a much-loved Easter Island-style head, named Boris, after it was swiped on December 14.
Mr Reymond was delighted when a reader noticed the head dumped in an alleyway near the Fryatt Hospital, Main Road, Dovercourt, and called at his home to let him know where it was.
Mr Reymond said: “I am delighted that Boris can now be reunited with the matching Easter Island-style head, Doris.
“It is obvious that whoever took it ran out of strength about half a mile away and decided to just dump him in the undergrowth.
“He is still in remarkable condition, apart from a slight bash on his nose, but they are just his war wounds.”
The officer investigating the incident, PC Trevor Abrahams, from Harwich police, said he was delighted the statue had been found, adding: “It is great news that the two statues are back together again.”
