Essex claimed their first Natwest Pro40 victory of the season as they beat Nottinghamshire by 34 runs at Garon Park.
Essex wicketkeeper James Foster took four catches and a stumping to help the home side experience some joy at the Southend Festival after their trouncing by Gloucestershire in the championship.
Ryan ten Doeschate helped Essex to 224 for eight with an unbeaten 64 off 50 balls, while Varun Chopra made 51 and Graham Napier (pictured right) 29.
Mark Pettini, Foster and the recalled Mervyn Westfield also reached double figures as Essex posted a challneging total.
Foster and Danish Kaneria, who took three wickets, then led the way as Nottinghamshire were all out for 190.
Napier, Chris Wright, Westfield, ten Doeschate and Tim Phillips all took a wicket each to lead Essex to maximum points for the first time in the competition this season.
