EVERYTHING from Brahms to Blur will be performed by the Colne Valley Youth Orchestra next month.
The annual gala concert will feature a range of light classicals including Tchaikowsky’s Marche Slave, alongside a Beatles medley.
There will also be a special arrangement of Blur’s music by local composer and youth orchestra musical director, Nigel Hildreth.
Janine Plackett will perform a solo, playing a movement of Weber’s Clarinet Concerto.
Aged between 12 and 17, the 45 members of the youth orchestra rehearse at Colchester Sixth Form College and last month returned from a tour in Wetzlar, Germany.
The gala concert will be held on September 5 at St Botolph’s Church, Colchester.
The group will also hold open rehearsals on September 20 for anyone interested in joining.
