MUSIC will take a decidedly local turn at the Twist this week.

Metal band When All Else Fails will perform at the Military Road venue in Colchester tomorrow, along with Veils, Desolated and other support acts.

The band, also known as WAEF, are partly from London and partly from the Maldon area. They have been described as one of the most brutal metal bands on the scene today.

Just two years old, WAEF released their first EP in July 2007 and performed 50 gigs in their first year together.

The four-piece promise a “brutal, energetic, lively and fast-paced show” and revellers are sure to enjoy some new material, as the band has recently recorded a new eight-track EP called Through the Midst of the Night.

Colchester-based band Life in Excess will launch their EP at the Twist on Saturday night.

They have their own style of metal/grunge and describe their sound as a mix of their influences, mainly Machinehead and In Flames.

They have played with Godsized, Anger is a Gift and Exoterica. Also at The Twist on Saturday night are Us and Them and Mr Happy Chainsaw.

Tickets cost £5 for each night and doors open at 7.30pm.
