A COMMUNITY spruce-up day is on the cards for a Colchester street to provide shrubs and plants in place of those not provided by the borough council.
St Anne’s ward councillors want residents will come together for the clear-up and planting session in Bridgefield Close.
One of them, Mike Hogg, said there were complaints earlier this year when cuts led the council to dig up roadside shrubs and rose beds.
Mr Hogg said: “People have been moaning about how the road looks.
“We are hoping to get a date as soon as possible and hope we can eventually do it in other streets, too. It will involve a litter pick and planting some shrubs.”
Mr Hogg is promoting the plan with fellow councillors Helen Chuah and Barrie Cook and has appealed for items to plant. It is also hoped local cadets, Cubs and Scouts will help with planting.
