I was surprised by councillor Sue Lissimore’s total lack of action over the antisocial issues in Baden Powell Park in Prettygate, Colchester.
I also note there were no residents featured.
Apart from getting her picture in the paper, as she is up for election next year, and slating the local council in the process, she has clearly not followed the correct process.
1. The hedge is owned by local residents, so she should have either knocked on their doors, sent a letter to them or called a public meeting to get the hedge owners to take ownership and responsibility for fixing the hedge.
2. The police should be dispatched to the area to speak with local residents and let them share first hand the experience of the issues they are suffering.
There was no mention of this happening.
The police will then manage the issue with the resources they have available.
3. If she feels that strongly, she could trim the hedge herself and put in new plantation.
Unfortunately, the blindingly obvious seems to slip some of our Tory opposition councillors by as they are more obsessed with their own public relations than actually fixing issues.
