MODELLING for an international retailer is child’s play for Ralph Barker Smith.
The giggly three-year-old’s face can be seen in shop windows all over the world after he was picked from more than 100 children to model for the Early Learning Centre.
Ralph has modelled for a number of brands, including Blooming Marvellous, in past, but this is his biggest success, according to proud mum 37-year-old Beccy Drever.
Full-time mum Miss Drever, who lives with partner Tom Smith, in Earls Colne, said: “It’s a complete surprise to see him in the window.
“We do get a kick out of it.
“We’re so proud of Ralph. He’s very sociable and just likes making friends.
“When he decides he doesn’t want to do it, I wouldn’t force him to do it.”
Ralph’s modelling career took off after his mum entered him in a magazine’s baby competition.
He was spotted and asked to model for Aztec children’s clothes.
Miss Drever, who also has a daughter, Francesca Barker Smith, seven, signed Ralph up to a modelling agency called Scallywags, in Ilford, after his success with Aztec.
She said the family, who live at the Colne Valley Golf Club which Mr Smith runs with his mum Jennifer Smith, never knew the end result of a shoot until they see it in a catalogue or shop window, which she described as “a really weird experience”.
Sam Mosedale, spokesman for the Early Learning Centre, said: “Ralph is with one of the model agencies we work with and has quickly become one of the favourites this season. He looks very cute and has a lovely giggly personality and was great to work with.”
