You always know when politicians are losing an argument.
They start personally attacking members of other political parties. I think every level-headed and even-minded person would have been outraged at the rather pathetic letter councillor Martin Goss recently sent this newspaper about my colleague and friend, councillor Sue Lissimore.
For a man who is constantly in the newspaper promoting himself, we all find it hard to understand his comments about Sue being publicity seeking.
Sue is a hardworking local mum who serves the people of Prettygate and Colchester extremely well.
What Mile End councillor Mr Goss really can’t stand is the fact the Conservatives are highlighting how he and his Lib Dem party – who have teamed up with Labour – are making such a huge mess of running things in the borough.
Lack of flowers, which has made our town an international laughing stock, is just one of those issues Mr Goss tries to brush over by making personal attacks on councillors like Sue.
He should take a leaf out of her book, and spend more time working for local people, rather than trying to insult those who do.
