SIXTH form students in Colchester are celebrating record results in their A-levels.

Every student at Colchester Royal Grammar School (CRGS) and Colchester County High School for Girls (CCHS) passed all of their exams.

A total of 96 students at CRGS and 46 at CCHS obtained at least three A grades.

At the grammar school, nine teenagers achieved six As each, with Fan Gu going one better.

The 18-year-old said she was “ecstatic” after she got seven As and is off to Cambridge to do medicine.

Theo Boardman-Pretty, 18, from Nayland, got six As. He is also going to Cambridge to read medicine.

Other big achievers included Philippine Wright, of Oaks Drive, Colchester, and Alistair Potts, from Nayland, who both got six As.

The top performer was Sarah Henderson, who got six As and two Bs. The 18-year-old, from Ramsey, will now study natural sciences at Cambridge.

She said: “I’m pleased. It was quite a lot of work, but it was good fun.”

At CCHS, Hannah Lennard-Jones was one of three students to get five As. She is going to Leeds University to study medicine.

She said: “I’m just so relieved I’m going where I want to go and do what I want with my life.”

Claire Finch, 18, from Shrub End, got four As and will study maths in Durham.

She said: “I really wanted four As, but I did think some of them could have been a bit sketchy.”

Natalie Healy, 17, from Clacton, got four As and a B. She is off to Cambridge to study law, but only decided to apply at the last minute.

She said: “I’ve been panicking for about a month.

“It’s been so long since the exams that you can’t remember how they went.”
