A YOUTH barbecue organised by a town council attracted nearly 100 youngsters.

The event was a chance for councillors to gauge young people’s opinions on what they need in Halstead.

People gathered in King George V playing field to enjoy burgers and rolls.

Many teenagers congregate in the park on Friday nights, and Linda Hilton, of the council, said those surveyed seemed keen on forming a youth council.

She said: “The youngsters seemed keen on having a say on youth issues. If this is backed up on the questionnaire, the town council will be looking to take this forward.”

Halstead youth workers also has ideas for Friday night facilities for the youth.
