TWO members of a tribute band have recorded a cover album with a difference.

The CD, A Dream that Lasts Forever, gives you the songs of Marc Bolan played acoustically and sung by Danielz, lead singer and lead guitarist with tribute band, T.Rextasy.

Danielz, who lives in Halstead, founded the band in 1992.

In the spirit of the original Tyranosaus Rex duo which preceded Bolan’s chart-topping outfit, Danielz is accompanied on the new CD only by T.Rextasy drummer John Skelton on percussion.

Taking time out from the band’s touring schedule, the pair spent a month recording the 12 songs.

Danielz said: “It’s an organic-sounding album that’s a throwback to the Seventies in feel and sound.”

The pair didn’t feel there was a need to replicate songs, instead putting their own slant on them, but retaining the spirit of Bolan’s compositions.

The album also features two of Danielz’s original songs, recorded in the style of Bolan.

The full T.Rextasy line-up, which also includes Paul Marks on bass and Neil Cross on rhythm guitar, were voted the UK’s best live tribute band by the BBC TV show Battle of the Fantasy Bands in 2001.

A Dream that Lasts Forever is out on September 7. For details, go to www.trextasy.com
