A WOMAN has tonight been arrested following a drugs raid on a Colchester home.

Acting on information provided by residents, police swooped on a flat at Plowright House, St Peter's Street at around 7.20pm this evening.

A 30-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of drugs offences and was taken to Colchester Police Station for questioning.

A small quantity of what are believed to be Class A drugs were also seized.

Detective Sergeant Terry Balding, from the Divisional Intelligence Unit, praised the Professional Development Unit, consisting of trainers and recent recruits, for the way they carried out the operation.

He said: "We had received intelligence from members of the community and the Professional Development Unit have executed the warrant on their behalf.

"Hopefully it sends out a clear message to the community of Colchester that we will act on the intelligence that we receive to ensure we do our best to combat drug dealing and the anti-social behaviour that goes with it.

"I also hope it sends out a clear message to anybody involved in drug dealing we will take it on and deal with it."
