TWO parties in the area next month will celebrate 100 years of Girl Guiding.
On September 5, Silver End and Witham North Guide districts are both holding events.
In 1909, Scouts founder Sir Robert Baden-Powell was asked to set up an organisation for girls. A century on, there are more than 580,000 Guides worldwide.
The parties will be attended by Guides past and present, with former members remembering past Guiding moments and looking forward to future events. The Silver End event is at the Congregational Church hall, from 11.45am until 4pm, and the Witham event at Howbridge Junior School, from 2pm until 5pm.
