THE town centre may have lacked muddy puddles in which to wallow, but children’s favourite Peppa Pig still proved a hit in Colchester.

The popular children’s TV character and her brother, George, a queue worthy of A-list celebrities when they showed up in Culver Square.

Youngsters and their parents queued through the day for a chance to have their picture taken with the porky siblings during a family fun day.

Claire Martin brought daughters Emily, three, and Chloe, seven months, and stood for 40 minutes for the chance of a photo.

Mrs Martin, of Hawthorn Road, Clacton, said: “Peppa’s the only one Emily really likes. I am just hoping she won’t get shy when she gets there. It’d be great if they did more things like this.”

Two-year-old Kian Draper had a family friend, Alisha Hart, to thank for spotting news of Peppa’s visit in the Gazette. His mum, Chelsea Boswick, 17, said: “She told me about it so we came along. It is worth the wait, but he was a bit worried about the big teddy bear which is also walking about, so I am not sure how he will go with Peppa.”

Gazette readers had the chance of a special Peppa Pig gift if they brought along a voucher from the paper.
