A YOUTH theatre group is extending its membership age range for its next production.
Following the success of Les Miserables School Edition in February, Witham Operatic Workshop, is hoping to stage the Hot Mikado in Witham public hall during February half-term next year.
East meets West in the comical 1940s-style musical that updates a Gilbert and Sullivan classic.
Kath Adkins, production manager, said: “It is a mixture of blues, swing and jive that should set Witham alight.
“This is an exciting opportunity for youngsters in the area to be part of a feel-good, upbeat musical.”
For the all-singing, all-dancing production, the group is extending its age range to 21, meaning 11 to 21-year-olds will be welcome to audition this weekend.
The pre-audition rehearsals will be from 10.30am until 3pm on Sunday at Witham public hall, Collingwood Road, and then again on September 10, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm, at Spring Lodge Community Centre, in Powers Hall End, Witham.
The audition will take place on September 13 from 11am until 5pm in the public hall.
