FIREFIGHTERS went to the aid of a bird in distress in Clacton town centre.
A pigeon had got trapped in netting designed to stop birds roosting on buildings, and an RSPCA inspector called firefighters to rescue it at noon on Saturday.
A crew from Clacton and the aerial ladder platform from Colchester worked to free the bird from its perch in Pier Avenue.
