PLANS for Frinton’s big read next month have now been finalised.
The town’s eighth Literary Festival will run from October 9 to 11 and includes a feast of literature, authors and poets.
New for this year is the Philomena Dwyer literary lunch at the golf club, on the Esplanade, held in memory of the late Mrs Dwyer, the driving force behind the event in previous years.
The festival launches on the Friday outdoors and with a new event. There will be an evening of entertainment with author Kevin Crossley-Holland in the Heritage Garden from 6pm to 8pm with tickets costing £12.50.
On Saturday, the same author leads a poetry workshop at the golf club at 10am before the literary lunch with Tim Ecott, with his memoir Stealing Water, and Robyn Scott, with her memoir Twenty Chickens for a Saddle. Tickets are £25.
In the evening, two great fiction writers JoJo Moyes and Simon Scarrow read from their latest novels and give the background to their success.Tickets are £12.50.
On Sunday, there’s an afternoon tea with Laura Thompson who will be discussing her biography of Agatha Christie, called An English Mystery. This is at the golf club at 3pm and tickets are £12.50.
