A DEMENTIA care home should not be built in Kirby Cross as it is too close to a busy road.
Lamaid Developments has permission to build five bungalows and a two-story building in Holland Road, but now it has applied to build a care home at the site instead.
Frinton and Walton town councillors said the home would lead to more traffic turning on to Holland Road, close to its junction with Frinton Road.
Essex County Council did not object to plans to move a bus shelter to make room for a new access road.
However, John Halls, town councillor, said: “It is right next to the cemetery and the traffic that goes up and down there is phenomenal.
“I don’t agree with the county council one bit.”
John Spencer, of Lamaid Developments, said there is a “big need” for dementia care homes in the area.
Another application by Lamaid Developments for a detached two-storey home in Green Lane, Walton, was also opposed due to lack of access.
Tendring Council will have the final say on both plans.
