FED up residents can mount their own patrols to catch dog owners who fail to clean up after their pets.
Frinton Residents’ Association says there has been an increase in the number of people allowing their dogs to foul in the town.
The association’s environment officer will lead the fight against dogs, but residents have been asked to keep an eye out for offenders and report them to Tendring Council’s dog wardens.
Jeanette Phillips, honourary secretary of the society, said: “We are considering mounting our own patrols and reporting those who do not take responsibility for their dogs.
“Our environment officer will be particularly vigilant.
“We would also like to remind dog owners of the possible harm to children should they happen to come into contact with dog faeces.”
The maximum fine for dog fouling is £2,500.
Part of the association’s campaign is to ask Tendring Council, which provides free poop scoop bags, to put more dog litter bins in the town.
