DING, ding. A theatrical journey through Colchester’s past is coming to a bus depot near you.
Preparations are now under way for the Mercury Theatre Company’s tenth anniversary show, which will take place in the old tram shed, located in Magdalen Street, Colchester.
Backstage staff from the theatre have been at the Thirties building, transforming it into a performance space for Depot, which will run from September 23 to October 11.
Part of Gift, which includes several other arts events in the town, the production has been inspired by a number of stories from Colchester people who took part in a series of workshops last year.
The result of those workshops have been incorporated into the show, which will be a mixed-media promenade performance, with film, music, projection and live action performed by Mercury company actors and local residents.
