I agree with the remarks made by Lord Hanningfield concerning Jaywick.
My late parents owned holiday bungalows since 1941, one in Grasslands and the other in Brooklands.
The bungalows were constructed of timber or asbestos, and there was no running water, toilet facilities, or heating.
Standpipes were situated in each avenue.
There was no street lighting and the roads were unmade.
I know that main drains and street lighting have now been installed, but unless the old bungalows are demolished and rebuilt, then they should not be lived in permanently.
When I was a child, the seafront was packed with happy holidaymakers, now you see hardly any in the summer because there are now few holiday bungalows.
These bungalows were never intended to be lived in on a permanent basis, and most, if not already delapidated, are at the end of their life.
I hope Jaywick Sands can recreate itself as a holiday venue, because it has a lovely beach.
