CROWDS flocked to a traditional country show.
The 11th annual Pebmarsh Country Show offered tractors, ploughing matches, quad bikes, off-roading and a dog show, as well as fairground rides and stalls where people could shoot, throw and ride to their hearts’ content.
A new food tent drew plenty of visitors with its selection of hand-made chocolates, cup cakes, cards, preserves and even curry for people to try.
About 2,000 visitors came to farmer Jonathan Nott’s Hunts Hall Farm for the show, in aid of the village church, school, football club and other local causes.
Angela Lloyd came from Colchester with sons Thomas, three and James, four, and enjoyed watching the off-road vehicles. She said: “I couldn’t tear them away from the ploughing match. We’re really enjoying it.”
Villager Bob Harrison, at the show with wife Jean, said: “It’s a social event, getting together and meeting friends.”
Mrs Harrison added: “There a lot to see here at the show. There’s just so much variety.”
