ARTISTS want to create a circle of happiness in Jaywick, with a little help from residents.
Nina Pope and Karen Gutherie, who are working on a new arts-led green space for Brooklands, are asking green-fingered residents to contribute miniature gardens and flower arrangements to form part of an exhibition at Jaywick’s Martello tower. Entries for the show must be received on September 16, between 10am and noon, with the show opening between 5pm and 7.30pm.
It will then be open until October 4, every Wednesday to Sunday between 10am and 5pm. They will also run two free workshops at the tower, one on miniature garden making, on September 14, and another on making a floral display on September 15, both from 2pm to 5pm.
The artists will also be consulting people on their ideas on how to improve Jaywick’s public spaces. They have been commissioned by Essex County Council to work on a plans for green spaces in Brooklands and Jaywick.
