Colchester's famous Roman circus could be marked out for all to see.
The site of the chariot racing stadium was discovered in 2004 during excavations on the Garrison.
But five years on, there is nothing to show where it lies.
Now a proposal has been put forward to identify the site of the circus.
The Roman stadium, which dates back to 2AD and is a scheduled ancient monument, is the only known Roman chariot racing circuit in Britain.
Philip Crummy, director of the Colchester Archaeological Trust, which made the discovery, said an idea had been formulated for a three dimensional representation on the site of the circus footprint.
