Married for 60 years – Anne and Derrick Bolt, from Stanway
ANNE and Derrick Bolt marked their diamond wedding anniversary with a party for 90 family and friends at Colchester’s Ramada Hotel.
The pair of Sweet Briar Road, Stanway, met at a Colchester nightclub in 1947 after Mr Bolt had returned from serving with the Navy during the Second World War.
On his return to Colchester he worked at Ozalids, a printing firm, in Cowdray Avenue for 26 years.
He married Anne at St Michael’s Church, in Berechurch Hall Road, on September 24, 1949.
Anne worked at Tryst cafe and hotel in Crouch Street for three years before taking care of the couple’s four children.
They have nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
