Colchester is set to get another supermarket.
The County Standard understands Morrison's is the latest supermarket chain looking for a site in the town.
And it is believed it could be looking at the Cowdray Centre as one possible location - even though it is less than a mile from the two Tesco stores and the new Waitrose.
Morrison's is the fourth largest supermarket chain in the country with 403 stores nationwide However, it does not have a store in Colchester - the nearest are in Ipswich, Clacton and Witham.
A spokesman for Morrison's would not confirm if it had found a location in Colchester.
But he said: "Morrisons is always interest in bringing its fresh food offer and great customer service to more people and is currently looking at different options in Colchester."
