A GP practice is struggling to stop drivers using its free car park.
Staff at the Elizabeth Courtauld Surgery, in Factory Lane West, Halstead, have been abused after challenging members of the public using the car park on trips into the town centre.
Some lunchtimes there may be as few as four people at the surgery, but the 55-space car park is full.
It has resulted in patients parking in Kings Road – upsetting residents.
David Shedden, practice manager, said neither Halstead Town Council nor the police had been able to help, because the car park is private land.
He said: “Short of putting barriers up and having ticket systems and wheel clamping, we’re stuffed.
“We put posters on people’s cars saying would you kindly move it. Some people do, but others are persistent offenders.
“It’s infuriating. The elderly and disabled have to struggle to get here.”
