RESIDENTS in Essex are set to have to pay a 1.9 per cent hike in their council tax to County Hall.
The Tory-controlled council says the rise, equivalent to 38p a week for a Band D household, is one of the lowest for county councils in the country.
Leader Lord Hanningfield said: "Today's announcement once again delivers the lowest ever increase in council tax and meets the pledge we made to the people of Essex last year to keep any rise below inflation."
