A dog owner became so angry when his puppy was let out into the road he damaged property belonging to his family.
The two-month-old pup belonging to Bruce Lyons was eventually rescued safely from Cowdray Avenue, where cars had to swerve to avoid him.
But the incident left Lyons, of Cowdray Avenue, Colchester, so wound up he pulled the handle off the door of his sister's car, damaged the number plate and smashed up a picture belonging to his mum.
Lyons, 22, admitted two charges of criminal damage when he appeared before magistrates yesterday.
Paul Baker, mitigating, said Mr Lyons and his sister did not get on well and problems had arisen when she had returned to live in the home he shared with his mother after splitting with her partner.
The court heard Lyons had feelings of paranoia and had dabbled with drink and drugs. Magistrates sentenced him to a 40-hour community punishment order.
