A Braintree restaurant is challenging schoolchildren to see if they can grow the tallest sunflower in a competition as part of a charity appeal.
Owners of the Tutti Tuscan Grille at Freeport Designer Village have organised the competition to raise funds for St Helena Hospice in Colchester and the Farleigh Hospice in mid-Essex.
The winners of the competition, run as part of the hospice movement's Sunflower Week in June, will also win a meal for themselves and ten friends at the restaurant.
Owner Rob Reeley said: "We have also only been in business for just under a year, and as we have received such support from the community we wanted to put something back."
