CANVEY Island have been given a massive incentive to win through to the last eight of the FA Trophy when they visit Conference South Bishop's Stortford in their fifth round replay tonight (7.45pm).

Yesterday's quarter-final draw saw Gulls come out of the hat first with either themselves or the Hertfordshire club hosting the Islanders' Nationwide Conference colleagues Gravesend and Northfleet on Saturday March 12.

Manager Jeff King admitted his delight on seeing his side come out of the hat first and said: "You can't ask for more than a home draw at this stage of the competition.

"With the semi-finals being a two-legged affair this is the last time that ground advantage really comes into it.

"But, before we even start to think about Gravesend, we must win tonight's game. We certainly should have seen them off at the first attempt at our place on Saturday when we led 2-0 after only eight minutes.

"However, we let them back into it and, to be fair, Stortford not only came back to grab a draw but could also have won the game. People who watched us on Saturday saw us go from very good to very bad.

"It certainly won't be easy tonight, but if we apply ourselves properly throughout the tie I feel confident we can get through."

If Gulls make the last eight fans will start thinking of a possible third Villa Park final appearance in five seasons - they won the Trophy in 2001 and were beaten finalists last year.
