An 81-year old Second World War veteran who was badly beaten by muggers has vowed not to let the horrific incident stop him for going out.
Police have renewed their appeal for witnesses to the attack which took place as Doug Bell was returning to his car parked near Colchester Leisure World on Thursday February 10 between 6.30pm and 7pm.
Mr Bell's daughter Janet Morris, and his granddaughter Sally, 15, said it was "very worrying" the muggers were still at large and it was "only time" before they attacked someone else.
They revealed their whole family had moved down from London in the early 1990's to escape the growing violence in the capital.
Anyone with information should call Colchester police on 01206 762212 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
