Will Colchester United go down? With the the U's now only five points away from the drop zone it is, without the doubt, the question that is playing on the mind of the Layer Road faithful.

Well, if Saturday's performance is anything to go by then the jury is still well and truly out.

The first half was shocking, the second very encouraging.

In the first, Colchester were a side that did not deserve to be in the Coca-Cola League One.

Admittedly Hull City are flying high at the top end of the table thanks to some big signings, like former England international Nick Barmby.

However, the U's should have still been able to compete against them, but they did not.

In the first half they conceded two very soft goals from former Southend United man Leon Cort and Barmby.

On Saturday the U's had failed to contain the Tigers on their home turf in the first 15 minutes, like they did back in their 2-0 win over them in the FA Cup at the Kingston Communications Stadium, and they paid the price for it.
