Actor Clive Owen, who lives in the Harwich area, has missed out on winning an Oscar.
Mr Owen rubbed shoulders with the rich and famous at the Hollywood awards. But he was beaten in the category for best supporting actor by veteran Morgan Freeman.
Mr Owen had been nominated for his role in Closer, a part which has already won him a Golden Globe and a Bafta.
The top honours were taken by Clint Eastwood and his boxing movie Million Dollar Baby.
Eastwood took the prize for best director and his film was also voted best picture. Hilary Swank won best actress for her role in it and best supporting actor was won by Morgan Freeman.
