A drug addict who gave himself up after helping to rob two teenagers at knifepoint was today behind bars.
David Rawlinson, 27, would not have been caught if he had not surrendered to police months after the attack, a court was told.
Rawlinson followed the teenage boys up a dark alley by Westcliff train station after watching them use a cash point.
He grabbed one by the arm and told him "This will be easy for you if you just hand over your phone and money".
His accomplice Raymond Ambrose - known as Scouse - jabbed a penknife into the neck and chest of the other terrified boy, scratching him.
Rawlinson said: "He's going to stab your mate" and grabbed his Nokia mobile phone and £20.
