Major plans to regenerate the whole of Old Harwich will soon go on show to the public.
A new marina could be created on the quayside, as well as restaurants, hotels and homes. The blueprint is an overall vision to create new employment, tourism and business opportunities in the historic town.
Commodore Peter Melson, of Trinity House, said the idea stems from changes at the lighthouse service. Trinity House is being relocated in a new office block and buoy yard, meaning its current waterfront buildings will be available for regeneration.
The general aim is to have industry at the west end of the quay, use the central quay area for restaurants and hotels, and the east part designated for housing.
Plans, which are in their early stages, will be available at venues in Harwich from March 8 to 12, when an exhibition will also be held at the 1912 Centre.
